Life Membership Awards
A special event took place at Elma’s on Clyde at Hamilton North recently when two Taverners were recognised with life membership awards for their work for Hunter Taverners. Dennis Broad has given many years’ service to cricket in Newcastle in general and to the Taverners specifically. Dennis has been an active member of the committee for 30+ years. Cathie, along with husband Roger, has been the driving force behind the cricket playing section since deciding Robert Holland was probably better off just captaining the team on the field. Cathie is highly respected throughout the veterans’ cricket community, from Veterans Cricket Australia level down to the occasional player.
A number of life members were able to attend the presentation and share a few yarns.
