Life Members

Being elected a Life Member is the highest honour which can be awarded to Members of the Hunter Taverners branch. Life Members are formally recognised by the Committee of the Hunter Taverners for their meritorious service in achieving the organisation’s objectives.

John McLaughlin

John McLaughlin played rugby league and cricket for Newcastle and was a long-time director of Wests Group. He was Taverners secretary/treasurer from 2007 to 2009 and Chairman from 2010 to 2018.

Judy McLaughlin

Judy McLaughlin was a long-serving committee member alongside John and focused on organising social events and fund-raising activities.

Rick McCosker OAM

Rick McCosker has had a long involvement with the Taverners. His wise counsel and background work has been invaluable and his status in the cricket world raises the profile of our organisation.

Cathie Black

An exemplar volunteer who always contributes positively to every aspect of the organisation. Recognised for many years’ leadership, care and dedicated service to the Hunter Tavs Committee and tireless support of our Veterans Cricket teams, as well as for Veterans Cricket at State and National levels.

Denis Broad OAM

One of a kind and an original Newcastle Branch Taverner, Denis served for 30 consecutive years on the Committees of the Newcastle and Hunter branches of the Taverners. As a renown, long-serving administrator at club, district, NSW and Australian country cricket levels his name brands the annual local cricket competition The Denis Broad OAM Cup.
